A day at the zoo

The kids had hearing tests on Monday in Dubbo, Hamish to confirm what we really already know, that he is in desperate need of grommets to resolve glue ear, a hearing deficit , and hopefully assist his speech development. This surgery, in addition to tonsils and adenoids will take place in Orange at the end of this month and Trevor and I are more than a little anxious about it. At the same time we can't wait to get him the help he so desperately needs. Prue's second test in six week s is suggesting that she too will need grommets, and when I listen to her talking I have to admit that there are lots of similarities with Hamish. She will have another hearing test in two months before we take the step of seeing the ENT. Hmmm.........

Anyway, as my sister Karen was out for a visit, we decided to stay in Dubbo over night and go to the Zoo on Tuesday. The kids missed preschool, but I thought that if we left the zoo for too much longer it gets way too hot, and even the animals hide from the heat. The kids didn't mind missing preschool, which normally they refuse to miss!

We had a lovely but tiring day (and Mum had a tummy bug so felt rotten), but the kids had a ball, and so did Karen who hadn't seen them since early May. It was nice to break away from our fairly hectic routine and have enjoy each other's company a little more. Who would have thought that two preschoolers and a toddler could have such hectic lives! Did anyone realise that when you pay at the zoo, the ticket actually allows you to come back again the next day, so it is a 48 hour pass? I never knew that, otherwise we may have spread the day over two seems we were down there. Oh well. Off to Tottenham tomorrow for a soccer gala day, then no more soccer except for the presentation day. What will we do on Saturdays now.
