Have you ever had those days when you spend it completely alone, with only an almost three year old to talk to? You might have a deep thought, or even just a bizarre observation, and you think, I should ring so and so and tell them. No, you think, so and so is at work, can't bother them with such an inconsequential thought, I know, I should blog it. Well lately I have had the thought to blog my many random (and probably useless) thoughts quite frequently...So look out! Those thoughts that I feel are too irrelevant and boring to bother people with, may just start appearing here.
However, now that I sit in front of my computer, the actual list of random thoughts that I had prepared in my head is completely gone! I have just read Leah-in the-kia's blog and am somewhat distracted by her news, poor Tim and his health scare. All I can think is what a fright Leah must have had.
Regardless, here are some of my less earth shattering observations of late:
Observation 1: When I first moved to Nyngan I lamented the complete lack of anything yummy and delectable in the supermarket. Now that I am doing Weight Watchers, all I see in the supermarket is those very same delectable things, every where. Spanish salami, prosciutto, dips other than spring onion and corn relish, yummy deli morsels soaking in oil, cheeses, delicious bread varieties...you name it, they have it....now.
Observation 2: The boy/girl ration in Nyngan is not that skewed, and yet somehow, there is no boy-themed contact left in this town, Every store seems, however, to have hundreds of rolls of pink contact in the themes of Dora, Barbie, bratz and Winnie the pooh, standing along side the empty Hot wheels contact box. What's the go?
Observation 3. Before I met my husband I was somewhat of a cinema buff. I loved going to the movies, and was a member of the Dubbo film society, the Armidale Friends of the Cinema, and the Kensington Palace members club. The week that my honours thesis was due I actually saw 4 movies (ever the procrastinator). Since moving to Nyngan 8.5 years ago, I have seen the following movies in a cinema:
1. My Best Friend's Wedding (2001)
2. Moulin Rouge (2002)
3. Love Actually (2004)
4. Cars (2005)
5. Barnyard. (2007)
hmmm...I kid you not.
Observation 4. What does it say about me that while perusing the celebrity goss in the supermarket mags, I read that Jessica Alba (lithe 20 something actress) is rumoured to be expecting twins, and the first thought that enters my mind is "Well she went and ruined her career then didn't she". Or is this actually an accurate reflection of reality, the previous observation being a case in point.
Observation 5. One should probably be concerned when swimming (bobbing) along at the local pool, one discovers a wooden contraption wedged into the side drain of the pool which appears very much so to be holding up the side of said pool.
Observation 6. The fact that one son got a splinter from this very same wooden contraption surely cannot be good (yes he did touch it even though his paranoid mother was yelling "don't touch that, the pool will fall in".
Observation 7. When your not quite 3 year old daughter gets up at 11:30 pm and starts watching "exercise corner", the disco music-themed aerobics show on austar, then perhaps it is time to stop blogging and deal with her. Assuming that the fact that this is complete waffle wasn't already good enough reason to stop blogging!
Apologies if you are still reading this drivel, I am off to bed (Miss Prue, is , by the way, back in bed, asleep, all disco-aerobicised out).

Well Nicole, I appreciated your post, even though you thought no one would! Your observations were very amusing, please keeping sharing.
Nicky
I HEAR YOU LOUD & CLEAR!!!!
I have many a random a thought through each and every day - maybe to loose myself and distract myself from the loud noises of three boistrous bush kids - or to wish I was somewhere better than here!! :)
After 15 years in Nyngan - I can still oh so relate to your 'ramblings'...
Oh girls, I am detecting a severe bout of Levee Bankitis. This needs drastic action immediately or it might become an epidemic. Nic, I too loved your ramblings. You need to put a jar somewhere with a notepad & pen beside it. Scribble down these random thoughts - one a day should do it. Then at the end of the year sit down with a bottle of wine (or two), read them, have a really good laugh, then burn them! That pool story is a real worry. What the hell is happening out there. Real Estate agents can get $300K for a property, yet you haven't got a bloody decent swimming pool!
