Some one told me today that I don't blog enough. Well sometimes I have a thought or an experience and think that I may post that, but in the end I decide to reserve the blog for kids news and photos. Well I didn't take a photo today but imagine, if you will, the following...
Three little bush kids who hardly ever see rain. Therefore, when the rain comes and puddles are made they become like members of some bizarre ecstasy-taking cult. All afternoon has been spent in the mud on our clay pan, bogging bikes, toy trucks and themselves. Being a fairly relaxed Mum I am not too concerned, I even let then eat outside then go off to play again after their very lovely San Remo pasta (that's sarcasm). Dad turns up home and the fun continues until I bring them in at 7:15pm, about 30 minutes late for a bath and only 15 minutes shy of bed time. Not a problem ordinarily, until we discover that we have NO HOT WATER. My kids may be tough little bush kids who love swimming in cold rain puddles, but they are all desperately afraid of cold water when it runs from the bathroom tap. Needless to say I am, by this stage, regretting the whole relaxed mum bit, and wishing I hadn't let them get dirty. We are off to Dubbo first thing in the morning and the water still won't be hot even if we work out the problem because it is off-peak. About 3 minutes of shrieking and jumping away from the soap and the tap, and finally I have three semi clean kids in bed. well i would just likt to say that as a happily childless lass, i had a lovely hot bath this evening and then sat down in my SCRAPBOOKING ROOM ( yes a whole room) and relaxed. But hey Nic, Dirt is good for their immunity and I am quite sure the kids would say it was well worth missing out on a bath after having so much fun, bogging everything in sight!
I agree Nurse Nyngan.... the kids would have loved it...
My lovely little feral princess came in last night after her THIRD outfit change since 4.30pm from mud - in tracksuit pants - covered in mud - her good pink boots - covered in mud and the poor dog - covered in mud!
Ahhhh the joys of being a bush kid who never sees rain!!
Neek
I'm glad there are still parents out there who are willing to let kids be kids. I can visualise it, Nic & in my mind it looks like so much fun. As you would know from previous posts of mine - my kids love mud puddles. Here's a thought - you should have bundled them in Trevor's work truck & taken them to N.N's for a hot bath!!
Lucy had her daily sleep on the floor of Jim's shed today. In a pile of bulldust. Fortunately we do have hotwater, or I would have been boiling the kettle all evening!!
You don't know how great it is to read about an everyday family going through the same things as we are. You seem to have such down to earth common sence. Thanks
