On the 20th of July my beautiful boys, Hamish and Lachlan, turned 5. I cannot believe it. 5 seems like such an important milestone. Not just for the boys but for us as a family. Trevor and I were both somewhat emotional.
The boys had a lovely day, going to preschool where they had the somewhat gaudy, slightly scary looking "5" racing car cake. the boys loved it, but the amount of food colouring scared me a little.
Hamish got a hotwheels "laptop" computer, and Lacho loves his Spidewrman pinball machine. prue also gave them a truck each that acts asa carry case for small cars. Luckily they received some books, textas and activity books from members of our family (thanks Nan, Karen and Dad), including some great books from my Nan which help them to learn numbers and number writing, which is exactly where we are up to!
We got Prue a small present too, as we felt that she is too young too understand why both of her brothers were getting presents and she wasn't. In fact when I tried to explain that it would be the boys' birthday and that they would get some presents, she just kept saying "me too". Too sad, so we spoilt her with a little backpack and a strawberry shortcake plate and cup!
Hamish and Lachlan loved their gifts, and had a massive party in the park after soccer the next day where they got an embarrasing amount of presents! We have discussed each one and who it was from, and then "helped" the boys choose some to put away in the cupboard for later.
Lachlan informs me that he is now ready for big school, as he is 5 now, and Hamish is busily wearing the several"5" birthday badges that they received as gifts.
